Prominent addition to the Velom Sportscar Supercup supported by Interwetten SCC: former Formula 1 driver Christian Klien will compete in an illustrious starting field at the ADAC Hockenheim Historic – the Jim Clark Revival.

One of the absolute highlights of this year’s ADAC Hockenheim Historic is the Velom Sportscar Supercup by Interwetten SCC. The SCC racing series, now in its 30th season, features a wide range of sports cars from many different eras. The LMP3 prototypes of the 1st and 2nd generation, powered by the spectacular 5.6-litre Nissan V8 engine, will also be competing.

Christian Klien, another prominent name, will also be competing. The former Formula 1 driver, who competed for Red Bull Racing among others, will be driving a PRC WPR66. The two-seater sports car is powered by a 3.5-litre V8 engine from the renowned engine manufacturer Cosworth. For Klien, this will mark a return to sports car racing, as he previously competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans as a Peugeot and Aston Martin works driver, finishing third overall in the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP in 2008 and making it onto the podium on his debut at La Sarthe.

“It is a pleasure for me to support the home team with my expertise and to bring a little more publicity and attention to the series by competing. I have been friends with Manuel Pedrazza for many years, and now the opportunity has arisen to drive in the SCC season alongside my job as a Formula 1 expert at the private broadcaster Servus TV and to help with the development of the prototype sports car,” explains Klien.

The Austrian motorsport star Klien’s participation has been made possible through a collaboration with Interwetten. Klien will appear as a motorsport expert for the leading German-speaking sports betting company in 2026. In addition, Interwetten has become the title sponsor of the SCC championship for 2026.

In addition to Christian Klien, the field of participants for the Velom Sportscar Supercup by Interwetten SCC (8th to 10th May) is steadily filling up. The Sinsheim-based GEBHARDT Motorsport Team will be fielding two Duqueine D08s with which the team has enjoyed great success in the Prototype Cup Germany and the American IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Championship. In the USA, the team won the drivers’ and team titles last year and is also leading the championship this year after two weekends. Swedish young driver Emma Wigroth will make her debut in sports car racing in one of the Gebhardt-Duqueine D08 LMP3 prototypes. She will be joined by Jérémy Siffert, who is already in his second season in the GEBHARDT Young Driver Academy in LMP3.

At the Hockenheimring, the sports cars will bring a touch of Le Mans to the ADAC Hockenheim Historic – the Jim Clark Revival. A total of two 30-minute races will be held over the weekend. With practice and qualifying, the drivers will have a total of 160 minutes of driving time.
