The ADAC Hockenheim Historic celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2025 and offered motorsport at its finest to a record crowd. The main attraction was the BOSS GP Racing Series, which thrilled the audience with its spectacular single-seater cars and the unrivalled sound of the fastest cars of the 90s and 2000s. Two thrilling races, first-class drivers and exciting battles once again made the series a highlight for many fans at the Motodrom.

BOSS GP F1: Gerstl dominates

In the prestigious BOSS GP F1 class, Ingo Gerstl (Toro Rosso STR1) confidently secured victory in both races and made the crowd cheer with donuts after the race. Defending champion Ulf Ehninger (Benetton B197) and Thomas Jakoubek (Lotus T127) completed the podium in second and third place respectively. This was the first time that Austrian Jakoubek’s beautiful Lotus had run the full race distance.

FORMULA Pro: Colombo and Šlēgelmilhs fight a duel

In the highly competitive FORMULA Pro class, Haralds Šlēgelmilhs (Dallara World Series V8 T12) came out on top in the first race, despite having started from the last grid position in the class after a track limit offence in qualifying. In the second race, Šlēgelmilhs followed his rival Simone Colombo (Dallara GP2/11) like a shadow. Colombo finally won with a lead of 5.4 seconds after a long and spectacular duel. The two are now level in the standings. Colombo also appropriately celebrated his victory with donuts in front of the enthusiastic crowd. Marco Ghiotto (Dallara GP2/11) completed the podium twice in third place. Thomas Zeltner (Dallara GP2/11) and Massimiliano Cuccarese (Dallara F2/18) also put in strong performances. Michael Fischer (Dallara GP2/05) had to retire early from the second race after a defect.

FORMULA: O’Connell triumphs

Paul O’Connell (Dallara World Series V8 T12) dominated the FORMULA class this weekend and won both races ahead of Martin Kindler (Dallara GP2/11). In the first race, Marco Minelli finished third in another World Series car. Stephan Glaser (Dallara GP2/11) fought his way up to third place in the second race, followed by Stefan Eisinger-Sewald (Dallara World Series V8 T12), Marco Minelli (Dallara World Series V8 T12) and Jens Renstrup (Dallara GP2/11).

SUPER LIGHTS: Scho ahead of Clausnitzer

In the SUPER LIGHTS category, Stefan Scho (Lola Formula 3000 T91/50) came out on top against Henry Clausnitzer (Tatuus Formula Renault V6). Both drivers fought a thrilling duel at the start of the second race, before Scho extended his lead.

The 45,000 spectators experienced motorsport up close – from the thunderous start to the insights into the paddock. The season opener in Hockenheim marked the start of the 31st BOSS GP season. The series will be held at six top European circuits in 2025 and remains a fixture for fans of spectacular formula racing cars. Round 2 will take place at the Nürburgring in a month’s time.
