The Prototype Cup Germany will contest its second race weekend at the ADAC Hockenheim Historic – GEBHARDT Motorsport will field a total of four LMP3 cars.
Home race for GEBHARDT Motorsport from Sinsheim: The Prototype Cup Germany is contesting its second race weekend in Hockenheim and will be competing in the ADAC Hockenheim Historic for the first time. GEBHARDT Motorsport will line up with a total of four LMP3 cars at its home race. In addition to three Duqueine D08, the team will be fielding an exotic Ginetta G61-LT-P3.

The ADAC Hockenheim Historic – the Jim Clark Revival is one of Germany’s most important classic racing events. Last year, 33,000 spectators flocked to Hockenheim to be inspired by the classic racing cars. Around 500 participants will line up with historic Formula 1 cars, touring cars and sports cars and compete in various racing series. The Prototype Cup Germany is the only series to use modern racing cars.

Despite the modern racing cars, GEBHARDT Motorsport is also flying the historic flag in the Prototype Cup Germany. The racing team, which has already enjoyed many successes in the Group C era, is organising the debut of Jérémy Siffert in the LMP3 championship. The grandson of legendary Swiss Formula 1 driver Jo Siffert, who was killed in a race at Brands Hatch in 1971, will drive the team’s Ginetta G61-LT-P3 together with long-time GEBHARDT Motorsport driver Jacob Erlbacher.

“At GEBHARDT Motorsport, we are well known for fostering young talent. We are delighted that Jérémy, another talented driver, will be competing for us. The fact that he is the grandson of Jo Siffert makes it even more special for us. Jacob has been competing for us for several years now, and he also joined our team as a young talent – we hope that we can build a similar collaboration with Jérémy,’ says Fritz Gebhardt.

The Duqueine D08 with start number #1 will be driven in Hockenheim by local hero Michel Herich together with the young Swede Alexzander Kristiansson. The #80 car will be driven by the Dane Mikkel C. Johansen and the reigning champion Valentino Catalano. It will be the first start in this year’s Prototype Cup Germany season for Catalano, a supported driver of the ADAC Sports Foundation.

In addition, GEBHARDT Motorsport will enter a third Duqueine with the starting number 11 in Hockenheim, which will compete under the banner of the Badischer Motorsport Club. LMP3 full-time professional Oscar Tunjo will drive the car as a soloist. At the season opener in Spa-Francorchamps, the Colombian set a new lap record for LMP3 cars and secured pole position.

“We are optimistic about our home race. We already had great speed at the season opener in Spa, which we now want to realise again in Hockenheim. The Hockenheimring is our home track and we have a perfect set-up for our cars here. We are delighted that the Prototype Cup Germany will be competing at the ADAC Hockenheim Historic for the first time and will be able to present ourselves in front of a large crowd of spectators,’ concludes team manager Karl Jennings.

The two Prototype Cup Germany races will start at 16:20 on Saturday and 16:10 on Sunday. Beforehand, a 15-minute qualifying session will take place at 09:00 on the morning of each race day. Both races and qualifying sessions can be watched on YouTube in the official livestream.

But the ADAC Hockenheim Historic is also worth a visit on site. In addition to the LMP3 cars of the Prototype Cup Germany, which thrill with a brute V8 sound, exciting and interesting historic racing series offer good entertainment. Tickets for the ADAC Hockenheim Historic – the Jim Clark Revival are available from €17 on the event website, from the Hockenheimring and from all known advance booking offices. Children under the age of 14 are admitted free of charge.

Electronic defect causes premature retirement at Le Castellet

GEBHARDT Motorsport contested the second race of the Michelin Le Mans Cup at Le Castellet the previous weekend. The team’s Duqueine D09 again showed good speed, but once again the team’s car failed to see the chequered flag. Reigning Prototype Cup Germany champion Valentino Catalano had to park the car prematurely in the first hour of the race due to an electronic fault that caused the engine to be switched off.
