Premium partnership under the banner of Jim Clark
GALLET 1466 is the new Official Timekeeper at the Bosch Hockenheim Historic

Gallet, traditional Swiss watch brand since 1466, is absolutely delighted to announce its return to active motorsport in Europe in 2017 in its role as Official Timekeeper for the Bosch Hockenheim Historic – The Jim Clark Revival. As Official Timekeeper, Gallet will appear and play a substantive part in the event from 21 to 23 April 2017 on and off the track, prominently and in keeping with the theme.

Over one hundred years of motorsport tradition
Even before the beginning of motor racing as a sport, Gallet had developed to become a pioneer and innovative supplier of racing timepieces. Gallet stopwatches documented the laps completed at one of the first motor races to be timed and driven with prototypes, in France in 1894. From handheld stopwatches and stopwatches attached to clipboards, and Gallet’s “Dual Timer”, a device worn around the neck to measure multiple laps with dual results monitoring, to wrist-worn chronographs, Gallet was the first choice for race officials and many famous motorsport racers. It is therefore no wonder that Jim Clark, one of the greatest racing drivers of all time, had a Gallet MultiChron 12H model chronograph when he won the prestigious “Indy 500” in 1965 and the Formula 1 world championships in 1963 and 1965.

Legends get together
A good fifty years later, the two famous names, Jim Clark and Gallet, are getting together again. As well as maintaining an exclusive partnership with the Jim Clark museum in Scotland, Gallet is continuing its focus with new cooperation with the Hockenheimring, as an exclusive timekeeper for the Bosch Hockenheim Historic. In honour of this event, Gallet is publishing a new limited “Heritage Edition”, inspired by the chronograph Jim Clark worn at the time, but developed according to state of the art watch technology. The new “Heritage Edition” will appear in a circulation of 1965 signed and numbered copies.

“Gallet has been active mainly in the USA since 1864, i.e. for over 150 years. Gallet was the main sponsor of the Indy 500 races for several years and is delighted to have now become the official, exclusive licensee of the Hockenheimring during the Bosch Hockenheim Historic”, said Walter Hediger, CEO of Gallet Group Inc., Zollikon-Zürich, about the new partnership.

Jorn Teske, Head of Marketing at Hockenheim-Ring GmbH, is also pleased: “Having a partner such as Gallet in the ranks, bringing with it such a great, longstanding association with Jim Clark and at the same time utmost affinity and tradition in motorsport, is a true stroke of luck for us. We are looking forward to close and intensive collaboration – as well as working in the constellation with the Jim Clark museum in Scotland, which is also sponsored by Gallet.”
