SuperSports Cup
Hardly any racing series is as spectacular as the SuperSports Cup. The flat, open sports cars from the European sports cars trophy are an absolute highlight of historic motorsport. The SuperSports includes two-seater sports cars, sport prototypes and cars with a performance up to 850 PS which manage to take you back in time to the 1970s. The racing series contain historic vehicles built in the years between 1966 and 1971 (FIA period “G”) and between 1972 and 1976 (FIA period “H”). The world championship for sports cars was as popular as the world championship for Formula 1 cars. The long-distance races over a thousand kilometers have many fans. The trophy for sports cars up to two litres were taking place in Europe and included cars from Lola, Chevron, Alpine and March. An exciting time for good motorsport. As old as these cars may be today, they certainly do not have to hide from modern racing cars - as the lap times prove. Characteristically big aerodynamic features such as front wings and rear spoilers make high bend speed possible. Slick tires have to be A11, rain tires are free of choice. For security reasons, the start will be done Indianapolis style. The main idea behind the SuperSports Cup is to have the remaining prototypes back on the race track, to revive this fascinating time and thus give drivers and owners of SuperSports cars the chance to take part in a historic race. To reflect the fascination of these sports cars which are more than 30 years old, there is only one solution which also inspired designers and drivers then - driving races and winning them!
