NKHTGT
The Dutch historic championship for touring cars & GT‘s - “Nederlands Kampioenschap voor Historische Toerwagens en GT‘s” or NK HTGT in short, was established in 1997 and had been growing in popularity ever since. It caters for touring cars and GT‘s built between 1947 and 1965. All competing cars are prepared according to the FIA Code Sportif International, Appendix K. This means only safety modifications are allowed. As a result all cars look just as they did in period, making for a very attractive spectacle. Although it is an official Dutch championship, many drivers from all over Europe make guest appearances in in the NKHTGT where they enjoy the camaraderie and friendly atmosphere between the drivers. Several German drivers are regular competitors, like Dieter Dahlemann from Berlin who is multiple NK HTGT champion with his Mini Cooper S. Other keen German competitors are Alexander Schlüchter with his Lotus and Thomas Ardelt and Oliver Sellnick with their Ford Mustang. The NK HTGT is hugely popular with spectators because of its wide variety of competing cars, ranging from a huge Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport to tiny sub-1-litre Fiat Abarths. In between you‘ll see iconic sportscars like Porsche, MGA and MGB, Triumph TR, Austin Healey, Marcos, Bizzarini and Alpine. On the saloonfront there are BMW‘s, Fords, and Alfa Romeos. And on this particular weekend, look out for the Lotus Cortina‘s and Elans, the cars Jim Clark drove in his day. Because all cars run on old fashioned Dunlop Racing tires grip is at a premium, making for lots of sideways cornering, which is very entertaining to watch and keeps the spectators on their toes. The NK HTGT has made popular guest appearances all over Europe.
